Scenic Drives

Perry County, Located in Southern Indiana along the Ohio River, is abundant with natural beauty. Rolling hills, colorful forests, cliffs and river views make it a paradise for a scenic drive.

If you like a few turns and dips, take a leisurely drive along Route 66, from I-64, exit 86 (federally designated as the Ohio River Scenic Route, a National Scenic Byway and Indiana's Hoosier Heritage Trail) along the eastern and southern borders of the county which will give you about 90 minutes of breath taking views along the Ohio River and through the Hoosier National Forest areas.

For a calmer ride on straighter highways, you can take SR 37 from I-64, Exit 79 to Tell City. This north-south highway takes you through the middle of the county and provides you with some spectacular views and plenty of fall color. County Road 27, designated as a scenic drive, will provide you with forested beauty and river outlooks. Access is from SR 66 - Magnet area or eight miles south of Sulphur on SR 66 in the Buzzard Roost area.

A variety of unique shops and restaurants are ready to satisfy your appetite for food and gifts along the way. Visitors on their first excursion into Perry County are often heard to say, "I had no idea Indiana could be so beautiful."
