Native of English, IN with at least 15 pioneer ancestors in Indiana before 1820. Graduate of Tell City High School; attended Indiana University. Became interested in genealogy more than 30 years ago. Has become so involved with professional research and in publishing local records of Crawford and Perry Counties, her own family research "gets put on the back burner". Because of interest in both local history and genealogy, has visited and researched in genealogical and historical societies, libraries and courthouses in many states, in addition to Indiana.

Has conducted genealogy workshops and taught genealogy classes for Vincennes University, Indiana Historical Society, local historical genealogical societies and libraries, 4-H Family Tree projects, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Senior Citizens groups, etc.; also works with individuals.

Elected in 1981 to the Family History Committee of Indiana Historical Society; serving as Committee Chair 1991-1997; served on the planning committee for the National Genealogical Society Conference in 1982; served on the planning committee for the Northwest Ordinance Bicentennial Conference in 1987; was appointed County Historian of Perry County 1981 - 1991; Membership Chairman and past member of Board of Governors of the Society of Indiana Pioneers; past board member and genealogy chairman of Indiana German Heritage Society; past president and genealogy chairman of Tell City Historical Society; Tri Kappa; member of numerous other state, regional, and local societies including Association of Professional Genealogists, Kentucky Society of Pioneers, DAR, Daughters of the Union 1861 - 1865, etc.

Has written genealogy columns, Family Corner for the Crawford County Democrat/Clarion News, and Perry County Ancestors in the Tell City News/Perry County News, with family information, also queries and answers. Publications: Crawford County 1850 and 1860 Federal Census; Perry County 1850 Federal Census; Crawford County Marriages 1818 - 1860; Perry County Marriages 1814 - 1851. Co-author of Abstracts of Obituaries in the Western Christian Advocate 1834 - 1850, published by Indiana Historical Society and received the Salmon P. Chase Award 1991 from the Council of Ohio Genealogists. Recipient of 1996 Indiana Historical Society Honorary Member Award.
